Biography
Étienne Lacasse is a composer from the Québec City region. Trained in jazz-pop guitar, he quickly shifted his focus toward composition and music for visual media. After earning a college diploma in music at Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy, he continued his studies with a specialized certificate in music for visual media, before completing a bachelor’s degree in composition at the Université de Sherbrooke.
A curious sonic explorer, Étienne moves between classical orchestration and electroacoustic soundscapes. He is particularly drawn to blending synthetic and acoustic textures, as well as to sound manipulation in service of visual storytelling.
Recently, he was selected for the Catapulte project, for which he composed the music for six short films supporting emerging filmmakers in the Estrie region. He is also working on a web series and several independent projects, including the video game StellarDrive and the latest animated short film by Unstandard Studio. In 2025, he will take part in the Music for Visual Media Lab – Video Game Edition, organized by the SOCAN Foundation in collaboration with Ubisoft.
Alongside his work for screen media, Étienne collaborates with several artists in the production and artistic direction of their musical projects, notably Zachary Loubert on his upcoming folk EP and Samuel Thériault on his first, more personal album.
